Not what I expected

Major issue is Windows 10 is not Android App Compatible. The reason for the purchase was to replace an older smaller screen Samsung tablet. So basically, apps I use for controlling many items can't be used with Windows 10. Without the apps, it's not as useful as a tablet. Keyboard cover leaves a little to be desired (to flimsy).

I bought this to replace an older Surface Pro. I agree the design on the cover could be a little better, sometimes when I am opening the cover it pops off the connection, but there is nothing wrong with it, I believe like anything new you have to learn how to use something properly and once you do most of these "issues" go away. I love the magnetic part on the back that helps it from sliding as some cases have a tendency to do when you try to fold and position them. The computer is fast and love that the keyboard and stylus comes with it for the price. I had a choice between getting a new surface pro or the Galaxy, and the price is what finally decided for me. Surface Pro is way over priced.

Exceptional Laptop/Tablet

You for purchasing the Galaxy Book, I purchased my first non-Samsung device in almost three years. I purchased the Microsoft Surface Go for use in my doctoral program because of devices overall concept and claim of exceptional performance. I regretted my decision the day I first opened and tried the device at home. The device was unable to meet my basic requirements as a student and therefore I had no choice but to return it.. The device was unable to meet my basic requirements as a student and therefore I had no choice but to return it. I then purchased the Galaxy Book the very next day and never regretted this decision like all Samsung products I purchase. The performance of the Galaxy Book, along with the quality and outstanding features make this the laptop/tablet that I was looking for. Not once has the device crashed nor froze on me. The keyboard is much over rated read the reviews found online. It is a sturdy keyboard they really enables easy use of the device. My biggest regret purchasing this device was that I did not purchase it sooner. While the device does get a bit hot, it is not a huge concern. Overall this is an exceptional device and I would not hesitate to purchase it if you are looking into buying one.

Don't Lose The Charger!

Bought this tablet in February of 2018 and it is a wonderful tablet and deserves 5 stars. However, I have to dock Samsung points for not supporting their own device. I lost my charger at a hotel and thought it wouldn't be a big deal because I have a Galaxy Note 8 which also uses a USB C Charger. I was wrong :( The device charges with my note 8 phone charger ONLY if i'm not doing anything that requires a lot of power utilization from the tablet (such as playing SecondLife) Otherwise it will discharge while plugged in. Thought I'd just hop on here and buy a new charger for it.. NOPE! If you go to the Galaxy Book Accessories the only thing they have in the way of charging is the USB C cable, whatever good that does without the proper wall adapter. So I called the sales dept and the end conclusion was either try to find a 3rd party who sells it or buy the same USB C charger that I already have for my phone, which I know already won't work...But I digress, This is a wonderful tablet and you will not regret buying it.. JUST DON'T LOSE THE CHARGER!!

Great 2-in-1 in Need of Refresh

I've been using the 8gb/256gb model for several months now. It is much better than my former Surface Pro 4 (other than no kickstand). Wacom EMR technology is to die for whether you are an artist or serious note taker. Easily drives two of Samsung SH850 WQHD monitors, but does not support daisychaining - you have to use up both your ports. It really needs a refresh to 8th gen four core i5, with Thunderbolt 3 support for good docking solutions. It also needs a software bump to permit the AMOLED screen to shut off when docked to external monitors to prevent screen burn in. It's probably too late for the 2018 version, but it should include a small S-pen in a silo, for "always with you" convenience like the Notebook 9, with the better full size pen as an extra cost option.

In theory, it's a great piece of technology, but I said I wanted a lap top for a reason. The tablet part is constantly slipping out of the very poorly thought out detachable keyboard. Also, the tablet is heavy, that I can never keep it upright if I am not on a stable surface. So it can't be with me on the couch or on the bed, which is where I am usually on a computer. Lastly, there are only pouches. I was desperate for a hard case because the darn thing falls out or slips out tumbles down etc. I just can't stand it

I was waiting for the Galaxy Book to come out since it was first announced; as I was in the market for a 2-in-1 tablet for (first and foremost) a portable digital art tablet and (secondly) general computing for those times I'm away from my home computer. It was definitely worth the wait! As a long time Samsung customer my expectations for the form, function, and display were pretty high - and were met if not exceeded. It feels "tough". The display is gorgeous and the S-Pen functions very well. (I wouldn't say perfectly but darn near...however, for what it's worth, the Samsung/Staedtler Noris Digital Pencil I bought just for curiosity's sake ended up being the "perfect" S-Pen for me anyway!) My only complaints are laughably minor - and probably don't resonate with anyone else anyway: As I use it primarily for sketching/drawing and digital art, I find myself wishing Samsung had just gone all in and made the bigger Galaxy Book closer to 13" - 12 is just a *tad* too small. Just enough to be frustrating at times. (I'm loathe to say it but you-know-who's 12.9" tablet is really the sweet spot in that regard...>.>) My only other nit to pick is the keyboard cover/case - it's...*functional*, certainly, but not exactly aesthetically pleasing with its sickly gray color and kind of sticky/creepy texture. Wish there were more options for cases, but I'm sure those will come along in time.

Better than the competition

I currently own a laptop, a tablet, another 2-in-1 and the Samsung Galaxy Book and let me tell you, this is by far the best out of the bunch. Right out of the box I was amazed by how thin and light it was. It comes with an i5 processor and performs better than expected when using it as a tablet or a laptop. The 256GB memory is sufficient for day to day activities and with the 8GB ram it packs a powerful punch when multitasking. When I used the Samsung Galaxy Book as a tablet, it lasted around 9 hours but when used as a laptop it lasted only 3 hours which I was pretty upset about. It comes with a backlit keyboard and a pen which puts the competition far behind since you have to purchase accessories for the others. I love the HDR AMOLED screen and use it quite frequently watching movies and shows. This 2-in-1 has been my go to device for the past few weeks and I couldn't be happier! The pen is great, it's very responsive and doesn't require batteries which is always a plus. I found the keyboard to be a bit flimsy and hard to use while on my lap but on a table or a hard surface it performed better than expected. At the end of the day, the question to ask is: Would I pay retail price for the Samsung Galaxy Book? I would not. Overall I love how light the Samsung Galaxy Book is and would be perfect for business trips and traveling.
Pros: HDR AMOLED screen, the 13MP rear camera, lightweight, backlit keyboard, pen, battery life, expendable memory
Cons: Price

You better put your seat belt on because you're in for a ride!
Fast Pass Review:
Pros:
The AMOLED screen is brilliant, great performance and a lengthy battery life to provide you with long hours of play and work. It has the advantage to other similar products because it already includes the keyboard and SPen! Best bang for your buck compared to similar types. 2 USB Type C ports. Samsung Galaxy compatibility with messages. It's great you can read and respond to text messages that are sent to your phone, on your Galaxy Book!
Cons:
The keyboard case isn't sturdy when using on your lap, it's best used when on a solid surface. It warms pretty fast when using it for multitasking. The mouse button stuck for a period of use, might be just a fluke, but not ideal. Microsoft Windows Home (if this is directed towards professionals, Microsoft Windows Professional is ideal). S Pen holder feels cheap. No magnetic holder. No USB ports, only USB Type C.
Final Thoughts:
Pushing the limits of this laptop, the processor appears to keep up with the demands of today's programs, usage and day-to-day operations. Children ages 9, 5 and 2 are able to take advantage of its ease of use. The children have easily discovered how to download new applications (ease of use), navigate easily with the SPen and they have been able to take advantage of all that the Galaxy Book has to offer without any hiccups. Samsung knocked this one out of the galaxy with their understanding of what the end-user wants, demands of their audience and providing a device to give other similar products a run for their money.

Samsung's Galaxy Book Shoots For Best In Class
ChristopherGower
9/18/2017
The convertible format is nothing new, having seen a resurgence in popularity with the release of Windows 8 back in 2012. Since then, in an attempt to take advantage of the new breed of touch-optimized operating systems, there have been countless pretenders to the throne of ultimate convertible. With the Galaxy Book, Samsung are the latest to toss their considerable hat into the ring.
When you think about it, it's surprising we haven't seen a Galaxy Book sooner. Not only do Samsung have significant experience in the tablet market, but they're no slouches when it comes to laptops, either, with a range of both Chromebooks and Windows machines.
As if there was any further need to drive home how well-equipped they are to dominate the convertible sector, it was Samsung who single-handedly brought the digital stylus back to the mass-market with their long-running Note phones.
The S-Pen that comes with the Galaxy Book is not only full-sized (instead of the Note's compact stylus), but is adorned with a rubber-coating that feels so comfortable to hold, you'll be using it for the full 11 hour battery life without issue.
Keyboards have long been the achilles heel of convertibles and, thankfully, Samsung appear to have bucked the trend, with a firm keyboard equipped with premium chiclet keys that are incredibly responsive to use.
The only area of minor complaint is the stand. While every other aspect of the Galaxy Book feels premium, the stand is part of the case, rather than affixed to the tablet, and feels far more flimsy than others I've used.
Ultimately, the Galaxy Book is a beautifully-designed device that stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the best in its class. It has its weaknesses, but considerably more strengths, resulting in a convertible that is an unquestionable contender for 'best in class'.

unboxing of the Samsung Galaxy Book

I have been in the market for a tablet well over a year now. My old tablet has exceeded its years and compatibilities, so this time I wanted to try a completely different system. Since i've grown accustomed to the competitors products such as their desktops & phones. My only concern was the transition into a Windows OS. It has been instant gratification knowing the tablet can be ideal and "sleeping" yet instantaneously start working and opening several applications without any lagging or loading seconds of using. Unboxing and setup was simple, once fully charged I turned on my Samsung Galaxybook and quickly realized it's more than just a tablet, It's literally a full windows cpu in a tablet form which crazy enough is more portable than a laptop. Surprisingly the Galaxybook is my go to tool when needing to get my work done. Its lightweight design, and keyboard/cover makes my computing experience way much more pleasurable and spontaneous. I highly recommend this product to anyone wanting a much easier and complete computing experience.

I have had this tablet/computer for a month now. Besides wanting to thoroughly test it before reviewing, I have to confess my delay is also attributable to the fact that I have been enjoying it so much, I have no time to write a review.
first thing - its a tablet. No its a computer. Actually it works extremely well as both. The I5 7th generation chip is fantastic. Unheard of in a tablet. And it performs well in both settings. The amoled display is breathtaking (no I am not getting carried away). It is noticeably better than anything else I have seen. Add to this the large display. expansion by way of micro sd, a very responsive keyboard, the fact that it is lightweight and of course Windows 10 and you have a keeper.
For work I am using a a 12.9 inch pro tablet with the optional case keyboard. As a result I can't help but compare them and the Galaxy wins hands down - Galaxy's better display, ability to use full office suite, speed and of course display makes it a winner.

A True 2 in 1

The Samsung Galaxy Book touts itself as a tablet and a laptop, and that could not be truer. It is a laptop when you need it and a tablet when you want it, with no compromise in either spectrum. I have been able to perform job duties that require intensive computer power, while playing games and watching movies when flying with no issues. The resolution and the clarity of the screen is incredible. Streaming 4k video on this thing will change the way you feel about watching movies on a tablet/laptop. I actually found myself preferring to watch video content on the tablet rather than my 65" living room TV. The performance and reliability as a laptop has impressed me. Its lightweight and durable design makes it easy to use when you are on the go. It is so nice to not have to carry so many electronics as I travel place to place. The Samsung Flow functionality built into the keyboard makes it super easy to connect your phone. You can even use the presence of your cellphone to automatically login to your accounts, which is really useful if you forget your passwords all the time like I do. The battery life is impressive (I watched movies for an entire 5 hour flight and when I landed I still had 70% battery life), the S pen has been so easy to use to take notes during meetings, and the processor is extremely fast. The only criticism I can come up with is regarding the folio cover. It only works on hard and stable surfaces. Even on sturdy surfaces, it can be unreliable at times causing the tablet to close inadvertently. Due to its flimsy design, the touchpad also gets stuck from time to time and I have to flex the keyboard cover to cause the touchpad to release. Overall, the device and the S pen are amazing, but the cover/keyboard leaves a lot to be desired. I would rather pay more for the device and get a better keyboard. I have my fingers crossed that Samsung will release an upgraded keyboard as an accessory for purchase. If they did, I would easily give this device a perfect 5/5. For now though I give it a solid 4/5. This device is definitely innovative. Great job Samsung!

I have been using the Samsung Book 12 for a week now. The device performs flawlessly. What I didn't expect was how laptop-like it is. The unit can work through online usual tasks and also handle a spreadsheet or two. The only challenge so far was the operating system update (just like any PC however).
The screen is excellent. Also the fact that the keyboard and s pen come with is an added bonus. Syncing it with by S8 plus has also been a plus.
So far, so good.

How I use the Galaxy Book
louishansell
8/31/2017
When I read reviews of tablets or laptops, I often notice that the reviewer analyzes aspects that wouldn't occur to me or wouldn't matter, because I don't drive the product the same way. And they sometimes evaluate the product based on an unusual condition, one that isn't relevant to everyday use for most people.
I will attempt to review the Galaxy Book by the way I experience and use the Book – and I will try to be brief.
The Galaxy Book is even lighter than I expected; I come from using a heavier laptop. The first thing I noticed was the instant start-up, and the brilliant screen. I am going to appreciate those features every time I use the Book. The AMOLED screen is terrific.
I like the keyboard. I grant that it is not the same as other keyboards, but it is easy enough to use, and it is backlit, which is a regular advantage. And the touch pad is responsive, I was comfortable with it in no time at all.
Some have commented that it is not easy to use the keyboard while it is on your lap. That probably is so, but I don't even put the old laptop on my lap, I always have some flat surface, so that isn't an issue for me.
While on issues, battery use gets compliments or criticism, depending on how people use the device. This is a non-issue, as far as my usage. I usually keep the Book charged, and I run out of juice myself after 6 hours working on it/online, so it is OK if the battery on the Book itself is getting low. Time for both of us to recharge.
Attention, Samsung: The keyboard cover/kickstand is not good enough. It doesn't support well enough. Samsung ought to include some accessory that makes the kickstand sturdier
I didn't use the S-Pen on my previous Samsung Note, so I don't have pen-based habits yet. But my friends always ask if the pen was included, and I learned that other products with pens offer them as add-ons. So, a stylus that is included is nice, and I ought to learn to get more out of it. I haven't even installed the pen-holder yet. I am looking for the application that would make using the pen a natural thing for me; right now, I have to think about it and wind up experimenting. No productive results yet.
I am enjoying the tablet size, especially for the Kindle app. And the cameras are fine – I don't drive photos hard, and the cameras work well enough for me.
I use the S8 and Gear3 watch, and I use Samsung Flow. I am looking forward to Samsung bringing these products even easier to use together.
I like this Galaxy Book.

I will say that I was excited to receive the galaxy book and wanted to try it while taking notes for my graduate class. I am an engineer and it is frustrating to mess up on drawing a diagram and constantly erasing or scribbling it out.
While using the notebook for class, the S-pen had a good response as I used it to draw, write, and scribble on the screen. After about 6 hours of use, however, I had to let the tablet rest as it started to get too hot for my hands.
The screen has a really nice display, showing 4K 60FPS videos with good color and a wide screen. The battery life did not last too long while constantly playing videos, and after approximately 6 hours, the battery was at 20%, half the battery life advertised by Samsung. The book was fully charged and I used it fully during that time. The battery drained quite fast using certain programs and the temperature made it quite inconveniencing to use while taking notes or drawings.
The keyboard took some time to get used to, but once I became accustomed to it, the keys had great response and I was able to type and keep up with minutes or write emails. The only thing would be that I did not like the non-responsive track pad. I usually like the track pad which has a "click" response so that I know if I clicked it once or double-tapped by mistake.
Overall the galaxy book is great for students and working professionals. Artists can also benefit greatly if it's their first 2-in-1 laptop they are using. The battery life varies, but it does not reach the 13 hours life as advertised by Samsung. If one could look past that, it is a really decent book that can do a lot of things a regular laptop can do, minus the games. It is also light enough to carry with textbooks that would not tire the arms or shoulders while walking around.

Out of the box it was a very cool, eye pleasing device. First thing first there are always updates to be done to a new device.
Setup: Setup was simple walk through the only time I had a bump in the road was with Flow app to my cell but that was minor. Booting up the unit was very fast compared to other devices I've used, I don't know if that is because its a powerhouse or just new, I'm thinking powerhouse at 256GB/8GB ram.
Pros: Unit functions very well, cool to go from tablet to laptop so easily. Battery life is as advertised, liking the AMOLED display. Keyboard is user friendly as I have bigger finger and usually hit more than 1 key. I don't have much of a problem. Touchscreen is very handy and also works well.
Con: The pen is a bit touchy and takes a bit to used too, now I'm fine with it. One time it did a windows stall and I had to force a shutdown. Hadn't had an issue since been a couple of weeks.
Overall: I not sure I was ready to buy a new computer yet, but I really enjoyed this unit and was not let down at all.

I've always been skeptical about 2-1s. My preference for the laptop was always greater and I never found a 2-1 comparable or even practical to fully replace my laptop. Flash forward to receiving and using my galaxy book for 2-3 weeks and it's completely changed my mind! One of the main features I love about the Galaxy book is its speed! I have the 12" -256GB and it is just marvelous. I am used to working with multiple displays on a desktop but the Galaxy book has an option to have multiple desktops. You can easily switch between each one by swiping with 4 fingers on the trackpad. This function makes it so much more capable. I currently work with 5 desktops each running about 2-3 programs. The book has yet to slow down on me or freeze. The trackpad is a great feature of the book as well. There are plenty of gestures that make navigating thought the book very easy and fast! On tablet mode, the touch screen works great. There is no lag when touching icons or when switching between programs. Another great feature is the S-pen! I am not the artistic type or have the need for it but I have test it out and it's pretty awesome. Overall, I would recommend this tablet to anybody that works from multiple locations like me. The tablet does not weight too much and it is great to have access to Windows 10 as any other laptop or PC. If you are looking for something portable for work, this is a powerful tool and the perfect 2-1 for you!

I was initially worried that this Book would be an overblown tablet and a waste of money, but boy was I wrong! When I took the Galaxy Book out of the package I could FEEL how well crafted this was becasue it was SO dense. It docked into the keyboard in just a couple seconds so there was no worries about making sure that everything matched up or bending the connections before even starting it up. It had about 65% battery when I started it up and it took a out 1 hour to get to full battery so it was SUPER FAST charging. I really like the C-Type charging cable so I don't have to worry about which way it goes in so it is much faster and more convenient.
Once I started it up I went through all of the traditional startup regamaroll and it uploaded the required updates and thenjoy the fun began, lol. The boo, is super fast and can handle anything that I threw at it from gaming to word processing, it was easy and intuitive, even from those who don't normally use Galaxy products. I love that I can connect my Samsung Galaxy phone to the book so I can transfer documents without having to use my email and that makes things soooo easy.
When it comes to graphics this has blown me away. Everything is so crisp and clear on the 12 inch screen and the 256GB means that I can download ALL my movies on it to watch offline. The included keyboard case has a mode to prop the screen up so it is easy to view. On that subject, the keyboard feels great and has a backlight feature which comes in handy when I am in a dimly lit area.
TL;DR I have to say that this Galaxy Book has impressed me and I firmly believe that this is the future of computers. It is fast, powerful, and pretty. What else could you ask for except for it to give me a massage, lol.

I took my Book 12 for work to New York City and it performed like a champ. I appreciated the backlit keyboard on a darkened cabin. I worried because I typically do not travel with a Type-C USB cable. This worry went away when in the late afternoon when I still had plenty of battery life.
It's light! Except for the price, I have no issues with the hardware and think that this is a home-run. I needed something as an iPad just doesn't cut it for business travel. I am struggling with the windows 10 but that is just a user learning curve issue.
I was wondering when I would use it as a tablet and found that I rarely detached the keyboard/cover except for some downtime media streaming.
I am loving the Drawboard PDF app that lets me use the S-Pen to mark up PDFs. This may my most used app since I markup PDFs a lot in my profession. The stylus is so sensitive that I may have to dial it down. I am still looking for a sketching/painting app to use for fun.
The wireless connection is flawless. The tablet is good at picking out the strongest WiFi signal in the many access point scattered throughout my office.
I haven't made full use of the Samsung Flow other than using my S7 to unlock my Book.
The screen quality of the tablet is by for the icing on this cake. The quality of the color and fine pixels cannot be beat by any of the many tablets in my house. This has become the default media streaming device. The blacks are so deep, you can't tell where the screen stops and the painted bevel frame edge begins.

The Galaxy Book is the best 2 in 1 tablet I've ever used. Its slim design makes it conveniently portable and easy to place on any surface. I can work on last minute projects, reply to emails, surf the web or simply enjoy videos and pictures on its beautiful display and know that it will be reliable to perform to my needs. Not only is it powerful but beautiful, its OLED screen displays colors and images so perfectly you feel like you're seeing the image in real life.
The Galaxy book has become my best companion. I'm a busy person and I carry the Galaxy Book everywhere I go. Its slim profile makes it easy to carry in my purse or bag. While I'm traveling, working at the office or relaxing at home the Galaxy Book is reliable and a good performer to get my work and play done. Its performance and multitasking abilities are seamless and swift. There is no lag if I'm running big data sheets on a spreadsheet or streaming videos on Netflix or other online content. Furthermore, the Galaxy Book has really boosted my professional life since I can connect and sync with my Galaxy S8. I'm able to transfer files and data from both devices easy. In addition, the battery life is perfect to last throughout my busy day of work and doesn't require charging it until I get home.
Overall, I know that I can rely on the Galaxy Book for great performance, reliability but most of all an amazing user experience.

Had been using the Galaxy Book for the past month, and I would say that its the best portable laptop/tablet in the market. The only thing that was disappointing is that there is no USB slot but I was able to get a Type-C to USB Adapter to connect via USB.
The tablet's boost to 3.1Ghz is amazing and helps me play any games or run high processing apps without any issues. Samsung Flow is amazing as that can be used to transfer any files and receive notifications from the Samsung Phone to the tablet hence we dont need to have the phone always when we are working as notifications are received on the tablet.
Battery life is amazing, lasts much longer than expected and lasts on average for about 11 hours on a single charge.
Screen resolution is good for it just being a tablet, no dead pixels or burn edges for images.
Also the Keyboard connects upon bringing it close to the tablet. And also no more worrying about having to purchase batteries for the S-Pen that is provided. But for the S-Pen was disappointed that it doesnt have the double click feature.
The Book charges rapidly with the new charger provided which is a Plus. About 2 Hours for full charge from Zero. Also nice feature is that either of the two Type-C ports can be used to charge it up. And also Expandable memory is good as no more worries of running our of Drive Space.
Audio quality of the Book is really good and the dual speakers gives out better sound.
All-in-All, its a Powerhouse that is Portable and light and convenient for someone that is always on the move or for someone that doesnt want to carry a bulky computer.

While this is the only 2-in-1 (laptop/tablet) device that I've used, I've grown to appreciate the touch screen capabilities and the flexibility of using a Windows 10 computer as a tablet. The SPen has its place and is definitely an added plus, but just like my returned Note 7, I used about 10% of the time. Today I use the Galaxy Book 12 mainly for work and for casual surfing. When at work and co-workers review items through my screen, I love being able to use my fingers on the screen to zoom in or scroll through content. With that said, the Galaxy Book is fast with its i5 processor, 8 GB of RAM, and SSD drive. Micro SD card slot can give you extra space, the screen is gorgeous, the touch screen is responsive, and the keyboard feels very similar to my Samsung 13" Series 9 laptop which is great. I can't comment too much about battery life since I rarely use my laptop on batteries. I will advise potential buyers that the keyboard requires a solid flat base which is what differentiates this from a traditional laptop. The keyboard is backlit, and it's attach/detach mechanism works really well.

Samsung has done it again! I love that the Galaxy book, it comes with a detachable backlit keyboard case and a S Pen. The S Pen works really great, the tip is very thin so its gives you a precise writing look. it's really good to take notes with or even draw and doodle . You can also use it as a tablet without the keyboard. The screen is crisp and clear. It has a rear and front facing camera. It's good for on the go work because of its slim, sleek and light weight . The Samsung Flow App connects the Galaxy Book to your Samsung smartphone . You can share files wirelessly, even without WiFi. Plus you can receive and respond to notifications such as messages. I love using it while I'm commuting to work on the train. I'm so excited to see what else Samsung have in store next!

Galaxy Book 12" - 256GB

I recently received the Galaxy Book 12" 256GB Tablet. This is my first "tablet" that has full functioning Windows, and I was a bit skeptical on its performance. Boy was I wrong!
Right off the bat, I was impressed with the speed when first powering on the tablet. You can really tell the SSD and Intel i5 processor were making a big difference. After the quick initial setup, I started diving into the computer.
The Super AMOLED display really made a difference in the clarity and sharpness of the screen compared to my previous laptop. Watching movies on it was also great, though I had to toggle the brightness a bit at times.
The tablet has great battery life as well. I recently travelled from Miami to Las Vegas and was able to watch 2 movies and browse the internet while only using half the battery power.
The only complaint I have is the keyboard that is included with the tablet. Though it's supposed to give the "laptop" feel, the stand itself is quite flimsy, and the computer does not stay in place if you actually place it on your lap.
All in all, this is one of the better tablets I've seen on the market. I definitely recommend it if you are looking for a high-performance tablet that is light and easy to carry.

Great laptop ...but a few shortcomings

The Galaxy Book 12" 256GB is a great replacement for a laptop or even a desktop with the understanding what it is intended for. The key to this device is its ability to transform from a laptop to a tablet by removing the screen from the included keyboard. This, by far, is the best feature of the Galaxy Book. Switching back and forth from laptop to tablet was easy and there was ZERO lag. The Galaxy Book also excels in creating and editing Office documents, spreadsheets and presentations, email, watching movies, photo/video editing and the usual internet browsing. The size of the device is perfect for travel and the Galaxy Book really shined when it came to watching movies. Watching 2 movies during a recent flight was simply amazing due to the Super AMOLED screen. The clarity of the screen, in my opinion, is unmatched, when comparing to other hybrid laptops. The battery will do the job for a four-hour flight with plenty left over to watch another movie. Samsung quoted the battery lasting 11 hours for video playback which may be overstated as I was able to get the battery to last 8 to 9 hours. The S-Pen, which is included, worked great for jotting notes and this too worked seamlessly with the device. There are only 2 areas I think need improvement: First; USB port. Samsung must have known everyone owns a USB flash drive so why not add a USB port or include a connector like they did with the S8? Second, better storage option for S-Pen. The S-Pen holder is located on the keyboard and the S-Pen got hung up in my bag several times.
Pros:
• Screen quality
• Ability to switch for laptop mode to tablet mode
• Ease of use
• Great for Office productivity
• Included back-lit keyboard and S-Pen
Cons:
• USB Port
• Better storage option for S-Pen

Pros: The product is very well built, seems to perform very well. Touch screen is very responsive. The keyboards is comfortable to use with it. Speakers sound good. The screen is very bright. I like Windows 10. It is very easy to use
Con: As others have said could use a few more USB ports since it only has one Micro USB port. It could of had at least one standard USB port.

One out of Eight

This is the eighth model I purchased for my home buisnes. I truly expected to work as good as my first book which the only performance differences was the RAM. The 4gb RAM running Photoshop CD 2017 runs the same on my newest machine at nearly $1,000.00 less. My other books run three times as fast overall and runs about 3 hours longer taking 1/4 of the time to charge.
I also notice that running small applications take longer and this brand new unit runs much hotter. The backlight keyboard is unevenly in brightness and is dimmer than the 7 other models. The display isn't as sharp or bright. The colors seemed washed out. The pen performance on this unit is poor at best. I tried switching out the pens and the problem is with the book device itself.
I explained these issues already and was told that I must have done something to cause these problems. I have never had a problem with Samsung Support. This behavior was uncalled for. Checking warrantee statuses on my other machines shows that I can return them except my first one.
I am sending all 7 of these books back to Samsung. I do not need to be treated so poorly and so disrespectful

The Galaxy Book 12 was the perfect replacement for the previous laptop I owned. As a student in college, I was looking for a lightweight, portable, and powerful 2-in-1 that would last me for the next few years. I read a ton of reviews and comparisons between different products before finally deciding to purchase the Galaxy Book 12, and it was one of the best decisions I've made. The screen resolution and quality is amazing. Colors are vivid and look beautiful on the AMOLED display. The keyboard has 3 levels of back lighting and comes in the package which is very nice (along with the pen). None of the components look or feel cheap. The keyboard has a wonderful track pad as well. The pen has a very fine point and the writing experience is the best I've had on any tablet or laptop. It feels extremely smooth, palm rejection works perfectly, and taking notes/doing homework is a breeze. The quality of the camera is great too!
The battery life on the Galaxy Book isn't the greatest, but that's not a huge concern for me. Ports are also another issue. To solve that problem, I purchased a small USB-C adapter and now I can use a small mouse and other peripherals with the Book. Other than the battery life and limited IO, this product is perfect and I would highly recommend it! Well done Samsung!

I received my Galaxy book 12" 256gb model 2 weeks ago, and so far I am very pleased with it. It can really take the place of a laptop, with it's speed and versatility. I wish there were couple better features but overall I am pretty happy. Pros: Windows 10 - with the adding of a disk drive I was able to install almost all older software I had including office (w/o subscription) and windows had no compatibility issues or power issues running the DVD drive attached. Also the S-Pen is an excellent inclusion with the tablet although I wish the button could work more like mouse buttons or that it had some kind of mini scrolling wheel. I also wish the S-pen slid into the actual tablet similar to the Surface pro, instead of the pen loop attached to the keyboard case. The keyboard case is great and I love the back light and that I do not have to charge it. I wish that there were a few more standing/viewing options but that is limited with a sturdy keyboard like this has. I also wish the price was not as high. I wish it was closer in price to it's predecessor the Tab Pro S. I love that they added the 2nd usb-c port and the micro-sd slot. Now I am not limited to the memory provided and can charge while hdmi output is being used. A couple added features that would be nice if Samsung is listening would be wireless fast charging. (although this thing charges fast with its corded charger) some kind of built in sleep timer for watching videos or listening to music. Maybe also a built in handle loop, because even though this thing is much lighter than a laptop, we are meant to carry it around like a tablet and its a bit on the heavier side for a tablet with the keyboard case and all, and I am a bit scared of dropping it, and I don't want to carry around a big neoprene case or a backpack while transporting it from my bedroom to my living room.

With the amazing S Pen and the detachable keyboard that come with it, it is the WHOLE PACKAGE! It charges EXTREMELY FAST!

I feel like Samsung slacked on this in the specs department they could have done much better with the specs or at least given more customization options.
