it's big, smooth, fast, great sound, easy to pay bills, play games (avid spades player). and it's great for watching sports. it's great for the elderly who are sight impaired. apple is just basic functions but no customization. anything samsung creates is better than apple

Its a really great tablet but could be better!!!

This tablet finally shipped to me before my birthday for Halloween, I'm excited to say that after using this tablet for just 2 days now that I'm in love. It has a big screen for major media consumptions and a long lasting 12,000 mah battery which comes into play when I use this out back when I have some friends over. The reason now why I say that it could be better is that I wish the stand kicked out in a full 360 angle. The reason I say this is because it would be nice for the stand to be able to cover the screen when not in use. But overall this is a minor nit and pick. Also the screen resolution really only FullHD what about QuadHD. 1080p still in 2019 at least give us 1440p. But overall when watching movies and playing games on this device is a must for anyone looking for a huge tablet. I unfortunately did not get to try or own the 1st gen of this product but I'm proud overall to say that I bought the 2nd gen and overall it is a great tablet if your in the market for one this size for media consumption.

A Musicians Must Have! Kind of...
Tyler
10/23/2019
I bought this with the intent to read music from. It works great with the PDF viewer and a foot pedal page tuner. I also use this to mix from and the aux jack is good, but because it is so far back in the tablet, it doesn't fit all cables/adapters.
It is not very durable, and is very heavy. I didn't think that would be a problem when I bought it, even after reading its weight, but it is too heavy for most music stands that rely on hydraulics. I only purchased this tablet 3 months ago, and have been nothing but EXTRA careful of this portable T.V., but as you can see in the pictures, just by carrying it around, the pressure from the back expandable stand in the case has caused it to crack the backing by the screw holes.
Overall I would recommend it as a music viewer tablet. It is definitely more for watching movies. It is fast and responds well for me. I am a 22 year old professional drummer.

Unlike my 3 other smaller Samsung tablets, this one requires a sim chip to get all the features with Verizon usage and several apps are not supported on this device like message+ and groupme. I'm now paying for a second line on my Verizon bill. Other than that, I'm digging this thing. The Dolby speakers are spooky good, I hear sounds coming from all directions. Its screen is big, therefore I don't need my old man vision glasses. It does everything and operates just like my other smaller samsung tablets do, so the learning curve is short. I watch alot of TV in my recliner. I have this tablet mounted on a hinged, swing away, mounted stand right next to my reclined position. I have the TV going, the tablet going and phone all in one easy access place. I mainly use e-mail, text message (mightytext), Google, and YouTube. No more getting up to use the desktop computer.

Charger port

I love the size of my tablet, and all the the things I can do on it. I had it a very short time like less than a month and had to send too Samsung to replace the charger port. So when I got it back I rarely unplugged it, and when I did I used a flashlight to plug it back in. For those that don't know the charger port is in a very bad spot. I took every precaution too make sure and use a flashlight to plug the charger cord straight in. I think it is messing up again?

Galaxy View - Original SM-T670
PissedConsumer123

I sure hope the View2 gets software updates. My SM-T670 is still running Lollipop 5.1.1. Samsung support is less than helpful, they keep looping their answers about how to check for the update which is absolutely stellar and stupid. It's been a couple years waiting for an update, but nothing yet. You might want to steer clear of the View line.

Love it, best music reader ever
Cellodave

As a music reader, without equal. Finally a device that is easily portable that is the proper screen size for music pages, which musicians know are much larger than letter size. Fits the shelf of a music stand with ease. Great for books too, no more eye strain. Obviously really great too for video, etc. Screen is big, clear and beautiful. The included cover fits snug so I can put this in my normal shoulder satchel with ease. Thank you Samsung for providing a niche product that no one else does.

Disappointing Sound for a high end tablet
RonK1952
6/25/2019
I was somewhat disappointed in the sound quality of the Galaxy View 2, I had the first generation which wasn't quite as compact but it had better sound quality. I also have a 12.9 inch IPad Pro that has much better dynamic sound. I am an older person that requires hearing aids but to me the sound is inferior. Picture quality is good but like all Android devices there are bloat loaded apps you can't delete. Don't get me wrong Iam glad I purcha4d the Galaxy View 2 even though it is overpriced for what it offers.

NOT AS BIG, BUT JUST AS GOOD

I've had mine going on two weeks now. I like the new look, just wish there was alittle more of a tilt when it's laying face up. Something like the first view had, however, I like this design much better. It has some lag time and I really wish you guys would have made a stylus for this tab too. I do't know if the the S Pen will work on this tablet, but if it doesn't then you guys should offer one that does. The apps are still hit or miss as to if it is compatible with the tablet or not. What's that about anyway??? Finally, the camer on here...well, don't expect any glamour shots. Cause you won't get 'em! I use mine mostly for drawing or video chat or to control all my smart devices. So most of the apps that I use are normally there but not anyway, and if i'm video chatting it's with family. They don't care what I look like.
So here is what you need to know:
1.) Better design this time around
2.) Needs a stylus made for this tablet
3.) Work on app compatiblity
4.) Needs a better camera. DEFINITELY!
5.) Over-all good 2nd version and worth the money. I love mine as much as I did the first view!

Awesome tablet
IBME

I purchased this tablet the day it was available. I had been waiting for Samsung to come out with a large screen media tablet. When I learned that it was an AT&T tablet, I went to my local AT&T store to purchase it. I wanted to buy the tablet outright, and then make the decision if I wanted to purchase a plan through them. I was REFUSED to be able to buy from them, and was told I had to buy it through a plan. Needless to say, I left without a Galaxy View. I then contacted Samsung and bought the View from them on line. I received the tablet very promptly. I am very happy with this tablet, it is what I wanted and expected. The first thing I did was stop or close the AT&T a Ps. I also took out the SIM card. Samsung needs to make a View that is Wi-Fi only. I have had several Samsung tablets and they are all wi-fi, and I have been able to just them how and when I want. I feel this is a media tablet and it meets and exceeds all expectations. I would/Will recommend this tablet.

Slightly Better than the original View
Carolina Cowboy
5/15/2019
In just getting it two days ago, the first thing I did before turning it on was plug it up to charge fully. It came with a little sleeve with handles that fits like a glove. That's a huge plus! Because with my old View, I did find a quality carrying case and I always wrapped it with a small blanket. I'll do the same with the View 2. So far, set up was a breeze. One of my biggest issues with the original View was that not all Applications wouldn't adjust to the 18.1 screen. It would give you this little strip in the middle that was difficult to read much less type. But then I found a way around it by going through Chrome Web Browser. Being a sports fan, the NFL Sunday Ticket and NFL GamePass won't work the Old View. Samsung has failed to update the Android operating system for the View and the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Tablets. And we all know why. The issues I had with the original View doesn't seem to be a problem with the View 2. All Applications adjust to the full screen. My only complaint is that Samsung should have just made a docking station then the current stand wouldn't be necessary.
I'll update after a months usage. But so far at least a B. The speakers are alot better as well. I was going to give my gf my original View but now she prefers that I sell it so I can get another View 2.

Smooth but Cumbersome
Tanya B

Excellent clarity and speed however only 64gb. Ultimately returned within 14 days. No way of protecting the screen and no products available anywhere to try to. Machine is large and cumbersome. Stand should be able to flip over as a screen protector as it is over 17" and it risks being broken. Is not light. Heavy after periods of time and very cumbersome.

Better Than The First But With A Couple Of Niggles

I recently sold my first gen Galaxy View. I had it since it launched in 2015 and it was becoming very slow when using the browser and switching apps. I suspect an older Android 5 version, low ram and processor had taken it's toll. When the Galaxy View 2 was recently announced I jumped at the chance to buy the updated model. The GV 2 is being touted as a competitor to the iPad Pro which is really dumb, as it's a media consumption device, not meant for work tasking. Apple have been targeting the working professional with it's overpowered and overpriced dumb tablet.
This View 2 is a good improvement in terms of specs vs the previous model. Although the screen res is the same, there is now 3gb Ram which makes everything run a lot smoother. The processor is more efficient and the device is a lot thinner which really appeals to me. The first gen was so bulky. I appreciate the new design even though the screen is around an inch smaller. It's still a massive tablet though. It's running Android 8 and I was told should be upgraded to 9 later this year.
As I paid for the device outright, I would have appreciated not having AT&T apps and branding on the device. I don't use AT&T. I think if you did, you'd probably benefit more from it. That said I'm happy with my purchase. My wife and I use it as a TV in the kitchen, take it on vacations and when we go camping. It's incredibly useful. The 64gb storage can handle a load of full HD movies and music.
The stand was a real bone of contention for a lot of people on the last gen. This time it seems slimmer which is great, however the folded down stand is really flat, while the upright stand seems to be too steep. I think introducing a third form of stand support would have been greatly beneficial. On another note, you can rotate the screen from horizontal to vertical like a phone which really helps with app compatibility. I would be interested to see if there is a wall mount created for this.
I think $740 is a lot of money but if you liked the first generation device, chances are this will be a sound upgrade for you. One last thing...Samsung included a stretchy protective carry case for free which wasn't mentioned but greatly appreciated.

Good....but....

The screen is beautiful. The footprint is more efficient than than the original. It's not bloated with useless apps. It's reasonably fast.
Now for the buts....
64GB is a travesty these days.
The expansion capability of only 400gb - ditto.
There is sooooo much screen real estate at risk - but no way to protect it.
No screen protector available.
No case available.
The hinge on the device would be far more useful if it was 360, allowing users to protect the screen when not in use. Instead it jus opens enough to stand up the tablet so you can watch.
The tablet is caught in the middle - it's wireless so it's intended to be portable - it only comes in a Wifi/LTE variant. But if you want to take it somewhere, that big beautiful screen is seriously at risk.
This never should be released with no way to protect it.
