An incredible tablet for creatives

as an artist and designer, i had only used apple products before i tried this tablet. i was drawn in by the incredibly beautiful display, the wacom pen stylus and the seamless integration between the tab s6 and my samsung phone which is a note 10+.
the tablet is just the right size to hold in your hand while drawing, the battery life is excellent, and my only other wish is that i could run full desktop programs for creatives such as adobe.
i am surprised that this tablet (especially the cellular models) has only 6gb of ram while my note 10+ phone has 12gb. i am also surprised that the pricey samsung keyboard is not backlit, and that newer versions of the tab s7 have an lcd screen instead of amoled. however, if dex mode could run adobe, i would abandon apple and microsoft permanently.

the galaxy tab s6 is the best tablet i have ever used. dex is great as is the entirety of the user experience. the samsung skin over android is significantly better than it has been in the past and dex is extremely useful in my work. this is my "go to" device more than my macbook air (2020) and even edges out my samsung laptop for most of my computing needs. for the vast majority of my needs this is my device of choice!

i love this tablet. i traded in my s4 for the s6. the key things i love about it include the processor speed, the lighter weight, and the screen resolution - all fabulous.
the one weakness i found is specific to this device (i hope) - there are several spots on the display that do not respond to the s pen, so i have to approach those spots differently when playing a game or entering text. i'll see if it's something i can live with longer term.
other than that, i love this device!

i upgraded from my galaxy tab 10.1 to the tab s6 and it was worth every penny of it. the tab has a long lasting battery and the s-pen is very useful when you do not a pen and paper with you. the camera is really good for a tablet and the screen resolution is amazing. the should have made the tab 5g compatible so that you could get fast download speed from where 5g is available.

pleasantly surprised by this even though i own so many other samsung products. this replaces a galaxy tab s2 i owned from its launch, the s2 still works fine but this s6 is sooo much better in every way. it helps that android 10 was sent as an ota just one week after i received it. there is more memory more storage, waaay more speed and the display is second to none; vivid.
my advice, get the keyboard case, it makes this tablet more like a real laptop; considering that you also have an s-pen, there's very little you can't do with this device.

i'm a professional dungeon master for a small game store in troutdale, or. i needed a laptop replacement that was small and light enough to carry around, since table space is at a minimum with books and maps. the galaxy tab s6 fit my needs perfectly, especially since all the apps that i use are already in the android ecosystem. it pairs with my note 10+, as well, which gives me even more ability to stream, update players, keep track of character information, and do the writing that is a requirement of my job. i couldn't be happier!
my one and only complaint is that the s pen loses connection with the air actions frequently and has a hard time reconnecting. aside from this one thing, this is the perfect tablet and i would recommend it to anyone!

Great for games so far, biometrics are poor

Bought on a lark to play games, check work emails, and watch videos away from home. T mobile had a reasonably ok deal.
As other reviews said, the biometrics are pretty unreliable. Faces don't work. Thumb about 50% after multiple tries.
Bought a Fintie cover with Bluetooth keyboard for way less than the Samsung keyboard.
Speakers work nicely. Resolution is nice.
So far enjoyable other than the biometrics.

Great Tablet for Artists and Creatives
rtist456

As an artist and designer I have always been attracted to Samsung's devices with S-Pen technology. Having tried many different computer and tablet options for drawing and design I have to say that this is my personal favorite. I like the lightweight size and feel of the tablet. The S-Pen stylus (designed with Wacom technology) is an enjoyable experience to work with. The screen makes everything you create look extremely beautiful. I appreciate the desktop 'Dex' mode, the ability to multitask, the excellent battery life and the seamless integration with my Samsung Note 10 plus phone.
There are some downsides - like the fact that my phone is more powerful and has more storage and memory than the tablet. Since I am wanting to use the tablet as a '2-in-1' computer, this is disappointing. Many apps for creatives are also not available or optimized for Android. In a perfect world, I want to use the desktop mode on this tablet to run a pro version of Adobe software, something this tablet cannot do.
Having said that, this tablet is an incredible piece of technology. Much like Samsung's Note series, the ability to use the S-Pen stylus to write or draw on the screen allows for endless creative possibilities.

Got it about 2 weeks ago, with the Samsung... I'm calling it a folio case. Basic case, covers the screen, and the back, folds to support the device, the pen stays perfectly on the device, even in my bookbag going to the office, 4G to Tmobile is solid, charges quick, even with QuickCharge disabled (I don't like forcing that much power into my device when I rarely need to plug in during the day with any device.) I have not had weird rotation issues like some people are saying.
Multitasking is weird. I can't figure out how to do just half the screen, I can only get mutlitasking to work as the small floating windows. The pen is largely a gimick, not a feature... It does disable normal touch, which means it can actually be used, but any removal of the pen launches the "pen" launcher. Which is mostly apps that are only useful for show (other than notes...)
Tablet also defaults to the "power" button being "bixby". There is a setting to fix this stupidity, but... Really?
Also, the fingerprint sensor worked about 4 times for me. Total. I put the case on, and it stopped. Tried to reprogram my finger, and couldn't get the tablet to register any touches. Got it to accept today (a week later), but it doesn't recognize my finger. 5s after programming it.
And Dex. Dex is interesting. I have found most apps to work fine, but Samsung really kicked themselves by killing "Linux on Dex" totally. It really would have been a killer feature on this tablet, and on all their "Dex" devices. Instead you are stuck with things like Termux, or rooting. Both are inferior to what LoD could have been. (Never got to actually use it... And yes, I tried side loading.)
Also, and this is probably an android thing, not the Tab S6, trying to do a USB transfer from the S6 to my OnePlus 7 Pro is an exercise in futility. Using the default system, it takes about 5 MINUTES just to get the link established, and half the time you can't actually get a file transferred until you change "master" half a dozen times. It also doesn't always access half the storage. And drops off randomly. The other annoying thing is, my Tab S6 defaults to BEING charged by my 7 Pro. My Tab has a battery MUCH larger than the 7Pro, and given the choice, I would always have the Tab Charge the OnePlus, not the other way around, but that also affects the chances of a USB transfer working...
A couple tweaks, and this could be a great product, in a market that is pretty baren for a real tablet. Also, STOP PUTTING THE SD CARD IN THE SIM TRAY! I understand it saves money in manufacturing, but I would have payed $20 MORE if the SD could be changed without having to reboot the tablet. Or killing my 4G connection... Would make it way easier to deal with files. Also, why even offer a 128GB version? My OnePlus is a 256GB, using SAMSUNG MEMORY. And a 1080 panel? When I have had OVER 1080 on my sub 7" PHONES for over 5 years? Come on Samsung.
