Not water resistant!

Purchased a Gear S2 Classic thinking that Samsung's IP68 rating meant something. It doesn't. I wore this watch in a lake for about twenty minutes, then it fried. Sent in thinking it had a defect, and Samsung simply sent it back saying "Water Damage - will not fix". Search around and see how this is a common tactic for Samsung not warrantying their products. Common sense says if it's rated up to 1.5M for less than 30min, waist deep water for a few minutes would automatically mean that there was a problem with this device. Unhappy buyer.

+ I bought this watch to get notifications: Great, view and answer with text or voice-to-text + I like being able to preview calls and cancel for telemarketing calls (wish i could make a call-speaker) + Love the user interface (dial) to change view/options without getting the screen dirty BUT - I want the watch to show the CORRECT TIME!. When I glance at the watch I want to know that the time I am seeing is CORRECT... but it's NOT. it takes from .25 - .5 seconds before the correct time is 'Refreshed' . Some watch faces are worse than others. Now I have to train myself to Glance-and-hold to make sure the CORRECT time is displayed. :( Can't this be fixed ? Please. A Samsung fan (TV, DVD, watch ?)

When I saw the difference between the app store for Tizen and the app store for Android Wear, I returned the watch. It broke my heart because everything else was great. Tizen is not. There's no development for it. There were like 30 apps and 20 of them were "flashlights". Hated Tizen.

Like any OS other than android and iOS, there will be a app gap for users. I can't say anything really "bad" about this device. Only thing bad is that it doesn't sync up with my works "wellness" program, but it says it is "coming soon" so I'm waiting. Otherwise, I feel naked without my S2 watch. I can see the benefits of going with the 3G/4G style but the Bluetooth only model I have works fantastically. Highly recommend it.

The specs say that this device is IP68 rated. This means that the device should be permanently submersible in water according the Specification for IP68. With that said I have an S2 Classic that was returned to me by Samsung Warranty unrepairable due to water damage. My device was never subjected to anything other than the sweat from my arm or light rain while it was on my arm. Never submerged. How is it that my device has water damage unless it had a factory defect? If it has a factory defect, Samsung should repair or replace it. I have Samsung TV that I love, I have the Galaxy S7 Active that we like, but are now afraid to use as advertised due to this experience with the S2 and an S5 active that was also destroyed by water damage. It was also advertised and designed to be submerged. I love my Note 5 and know not to expose it to water and it is working great. Point is I have been a long time Samsung customer and like their products, but I think it is time to find a more reputable company to do business with.

I love the watch. The watch has all the features I was looking for and more. My concern is product life cycle, specifically the battery. What to do when the battery eventually dies and Samsung no longer supports the product. The battery can only be charged so many times before it has to be replaced. Comparing the product to other offerings on the market, by far the best choice.

Really love this watch. First, I have small wrist, so the 38 mm size is perfect size for my wrist. At first I thought I would not like the leather band, but now I prefer it over a metal band. No slipping around on the wrist. Watch functionality is great. I get a slight vibration and buzz when emails or other notifications come in. Easy to read dial makes getting through emails easy. I like the ability to rotate the bezel to access different apps. Numerous watch faces already loaded, simply scroll through them until you find the one you want. And more online. Battery life is just over 30 hours for me. Not sure if that is great, but I will learn how to and when to charge. Recommend this over the S3 Classic as this is the right size for a small wrist.

The Samsung G2 classic is the best watch I've ever owned. First and foremost, it syncs/integrates with my Samsung S7 perfectly. I don't have to check my phone anymore for incoming calls, messages, appointments, or the like as they all show up and are transmitted to the watch. I just have to look at my watch to see whatever feature it is for a quick view. The watch is light weight, not too large for an average person's wrist, yet easy to view and navigate through the features both by using the buttons on the side or the bezel. I use my calendar daily, so when I have an up-coming appointment, I can view it on my watch for a quick reference and the vibrate feature reminds me when the appointment is approaching. The quick view/abbreviated information is intelligible and understandable. The best things about the watch are that it's practically useful and fun. If you're bored with the watch face, you can change it. Want to add some features? Download them or enable them on the phone or watch. Want to add a new widget, install it from the Samsung gear site. I would recommend this Samsung G2 Classic to anyone that decided abandon their "black book" for the digital version via one's smart phone, it's a great companion.

My favorite gift of all time and I am 65 years old. The watch is good looking enough that I wear it all the time. It allows me access to email, texts and selected notifications in a manner which keeps me connected at all times without needing to constantly look at my phone. The ability to have such access discretely is invaluable. I had one problem with a software glich which was repaired quickly with the return of the watch for servicing in less than 10 days. I really missed the watch during that time. Battery life could be better, but I really have a great number of apps synced so my use may be unusual. Even access to weather, time and news headlines becomes part of your normal use.

As a Pebble watch convert after the Fitbit debacle, I am really enjoying my S2 Classic. The screen is beautiful, the watch faces are plentiful, and the watch has plenty of features. I find the performance responsive. Notification support is good. Fit and finish on the watch is excellent. Being a Pebble user, I have to want for more battery life but with a AMOLED display I guess that is the trade off. I hope Samsung can encourage more phone app makers to code for Tizen. I'd love to see a native Pandora app for example.

My crystal for Gear S2 is chipped on the edge. I dropped the watch onto our kitchen floor which is a stone floor (about a 3 ft drop). I would have thought the crystal would have been stronger. Disappointed for the price of the watch.

I wanted the Gear S2 Classic from the day it came out. I was mesmerized by the design and pleasantly surprised with the implementation of the rotating bezel. The watch excels in most departments as well as lets down in a very few, but at the end of the day, I would recommend this to anyone, and now, the Gear S3 looks even better! Here are my pros and cons of the watch, in details: Pros: 1. Rotating bezel: A very intuitive and real way to interact with your smartwatch without even touching the screen! 2. Long battery life: My watch easily lasts me 2 full days with moderate to heavy use. 3. Durability: I have bumped my wrist more than often on a random wall or door, but thankfully, I see no scratches in the past 4-5 months of use. I cover the screen with a screen protector though, just to be safe. 4. Buttery smooth UI: The UI is extremely smooth, the watch never lags and I haven't faced an app crash, ever. Cons: 1. Unavailability of compatible apps: There is a serious dearth of compatible apps for the Gear S lineup, with most of the apps featured on the Galaxy store being watch faces. Even in that department, there is a serious lack of good third party watch faces. Google apps, especially those like Google Now and Maps are seriously needed. 2. Lack of speaker and reliable voice assistant: Let's admit it, S Voice is dead. The first thing that I do on all my Samsung phones the minute I get it, is disable S Voice and make Google my primary voice assistant, this is a serious problem for the Gear S2 since there is no support for Google Apps. Another very important shortcoming is the lack of speakers, since the watch doesn't have any, you have to take your phone out every single time to take a call. I admit, talking to someone on your watch speaker is not very good to do, but it is a handy feature to have at times.

No more missed calls, emails or texts. My S2 Classic keeps me connected and it looks great, too. Step counter very accurate, calendar feature is great. I even use the timer a lot. I also love that I can control my music through the S2....next track, volume, etc while it rocks through my Radiant Bluetooth speaker (another great purchase). Would recommend the S2 to anyone looking for a fully functional, and great looking watch.
